Update: Volga River stable, people returning home

(KWWL) -

According to their Facebook page, Clayton County Emergency Management says the Volga River is stable.

They say the river was hovering around 14 feet late Saturday. The Volga River at Wadena continues to go down.

On their Facebook page, they also say Volga City residents can return to their homes, power has been restored, and the river levels will continue to be monitored.

The Clayton County Emergency Management issued a mandatory evacuation for people in town yesterday, as water from the Volga River went over an earthen levee.

Forecasters believe more than five inches of rain fell over the Volga River Watershed, creating quite the headache for first responders.

Authorities say they are closely watching the river levels at Volga.
