Acting Lt. Gov touring storm damage in McGregor

Posted: Updated:

Acting Lieutenant Governor is in eastern Iowa today, surveying the damage from Wednesday night's storms.

Adam Gregg first visited McGregor, where he met with both the Clayton County Sheriff and Mar-Mac Police Chief.

He was given a full tour of the town, including stopping to look at the two buildings that sustained the worst damage from the tornado.

They also took him into some of the neighborhoods of McGregor, tree damage can be seen nearly everywhere in the small town.

Afterwards, he described seeing the damage in person.

"I've been watching the pictures on social media, and to see it in person makes it even more humbling," said Gregg. "Even as we were coming into town and seeing the significant tree damage along the highway - it got real very quickly."

Gregg also visited St. Mary's church, where he spoke with both people affected by the storms, and volunteers. He also surveyed storm damage in Clermont.
