CLAYTON COUNTY (KWWL) -

Power has been restored, and certain trails are reopened at Effigy Mounds National Monument after storms Wednesday night left the park heavily damaged.

According to a Facebook post on their official page, the visitor center is open today, and the Yellow River boardwalk trail is now open. They also say portions of the Fire Point Loop are now open too.

All other trails remain closed due to unsafe conditions.

Park officials say they have crews out working to clean up affected trails, and get trails open as soon as possible.

They also say despite substantial tree damage, there was very little or no damage done to the many mounds in the park.
