"Make room for others," Iowa DOT's message to Waterloo drivers

Posted: Updated:

The Iowa DOT reached out to KWWL, after noticing a problem along the construction zone on U.S. 63 in Waterloo.

They say when traffic backs up on U.S. 63 between Jefferson and Franklin, too many drivers are stopping in the middle of intersections.

They're not leaving enough of a gap for others to get through.

This problem occurs mainly during peak traffic times, from 7 to 8 in the morning and from 3 to 6 p.m.

The DOT understands that the traffic can be frustrating, but asks people to be respectful.

They also ask that people do not ride their bikes or walk through the construction zone on U.S. 63 southbound.

Right now the DOT is working on a highway reconstruction project.
