PTL basketball semifinals tonight at the Cedar Valley SportsPlex..

The Vinton Merchants take on LL Pelling....

The Iowa Hawkeyes' Brady Ellington lighting it up tonight for the Merchants... Ellingson 6 of 9 from three... Vinton leads by 24.

Iowa's Jordan Bohannon starts to light it up for LL Pelling.. Bohannon made seven 3's to finish with 29 points...

The star tonight is Hawkeye 6-11 freshman to Jake Nunge.... for Vinton Merchant....

Showing his very smooth fluid game....Nunge led all scorers with 31 points to go along with 17 rebounds and three assists. As Vinton Mercant wins to advance to Sunday's PTL  finals

Nunge who played high school basketball in Indiana...has strong ties to Eastern Iowa---his relatives live in the Aplington-Parkersburg area...And his cousin is former Cyclone women's all-American Chelsea Poppens..

Jake Nunge, "It feels really good you know--it feels like home--I have a lot of family members here--I know the area I used to live here so its a great feeling...

It helps a lot because you don't get this level of competition in high school in the summer it Really prepares you for college... "

WHAT ARE SOME AREAS OF YOUR GAME YOU'D LIKE TO SHORE UP MOVING FORWARD?

Nunge, "I say strength is probably one of the biggest things--especially on the defensive end--playing against some big guys they can back you down..I need to get stronger--everybody has got to get stronger that's what the college game is about i think that's probably the biggest aspect I need to work on."

The PTL Championship game is Sunday at 3pm in North Liberty.
