IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

An arrest has been made following a robbery and assault in a pizza shop, after the suspect returned to fill out a job application.

On May 21, police got a report that a person was robbed and assaulted at Falbo Bro's Pizzeria in Iowa City.

No initial arrest was made, but police have now arrested Cedric Johnson, 22, of Iowa City, for the crime. According to police, Johnson was recognized by an employee, who witnessed the May altercation, when he came back into the store to fill out a job application.

The victim said $1,800 was taken from them and was punched in the head until unconscious when they threatened to call the police. The victim didn't know if the punches came from Johnson or one of his friends.

Police said Johnson matched the descriptions given by other witnesses and was again picked out of a photo lineup. During questioning, police said Johnson admitted to being involved in the altercation but denied stealing money and punching the victim.

Johnson also told police that he didn't remember much from the night and blamed the incident on the victim.

Police charged Johnson with second-degree robbery. No other arrests have been made.
