An Iowa City West Girls Soccer star receives a prestigious national award.

Trojan midfielder Reagan Steigleder is the Gatorade Girls Soccer player of the year in the state of Iowa.

Steigleder scored 37 goals and dished out eleven assists for an Iowa City West team that made it to the semifinal round

of the state soccer tournament... A four year starter for the Trojans...Reagan helped lead West to a state title two

years ago and a second place finish last year. An outstanding student athlete... Steigleder is a valedictorian with a four

point-oh grade point average---who will be attending Northwestern University....Trojan head coach David Rosenthal says she is tremendous leader...

Coach Rosenthal, "You know what she does she leads a lot by example--she goes out there and she is a competitor--I was listening to your interview with her--one of the things that makes her a special competitor is how competitive she is ...she wants to win every single ball. She wants to win every single 50-50 ball she wants to dominate the game and she can take over every game with her skills and she did a lot of that this year."

Reagan, I definitely give props to my parents for flying me and driving me everywhere around the country. Honestly I have been every where and I couldn't have done it without them--My dad and my mom driving me eight hours every weekend to Michigan to play and I use to play on an Arizona team so I had to fly out to California and Arizona every other weekend so honestly I couldn't have done it without you guys...

Steigleder played on club teams in Arizona and Michigan...She was also named to a high school all-American team. She is donating her 1-thousand award to the live like line foundation--- for the late Iowa City West volleyball star Caroline Found--.
