DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

After being gone for several years, the retailer Old Navy will soon be back in Dubuque.

The clothing and accessories store, returns to a familiar location -- its former spot at Asbury Plaza.

Shoppers are thrilled with the announcement. "I think it's great," said Rose Haskell.  "I hated to see them go,"  she said.

The store closed about five years ago, reportedly after the previous property owner and the retailer could not agree on lease terms.

The current property owners, Cafaro Company, who also are in charge of Kennedy Mall, say there is demand in Dubuque. "We're really excited about the opportunities that this mall is gonna have to offer, and again, bringing more people into Dubuque, and keeping the people who are already here, the residents, just giving them more shopping opportunity and keeping them here in Dubuque, instead of them going elsewhere," said Lindsay Hottovy, marketing director.

Old Navy is not the only retailer moving in.

Sears Hometown will also open at the plaza, selling products like home appliances, tools, mattresses and fitness equipment. The more than 8,500 square foot space will be located between Pier 1 Imports and Petco.

Property management say the stores are due to open later this summer, and early fall.
