Cedar Falls city council agrees to keep Mayor full-time

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Should the mayor's job and salary be reduced to part-time?

That is a question the Cedar Falls city council discussed last night. The discussion lasted around 45 minutes, and at times it did get heated.

In the end, the city council did vote to keep Mayor Jim Brown full-time.

That means his job and salary would not be reduced to part -time.

But the city did talk about how this is something that should be discussed in the future. In fact, the city council approved looking at the mayor's salary down the road at a city pay plan study.

The city council did say this did not come up because of Mayor Brown's performance. In fact, back in 2013, the city council considered a similar idea.

Right now, Mayor Brown is making about 90 thousand dollars a year.
