Police looking for owners of dog involved in biting incident

Iowa City police are looking for the owners of a dog who bit a person at a dog park.

According to a release by police, on Monday, July 17, Iowa City Animal Services were notified that a person was bit by a dog on Saturday, July 15.

The incident is said to have happened around 1 p.m. at Rita's Ranch Dog Park when the victim attempted to intervene between two dogs that were fighting and then was bitten on the hand.

The victim described the dog as a medium-large, white and fawn colored American Staffordshire mix and the said the owners were an older couple who left immediately after the incident.

There was no word on the severity of the victim's injury but animal services are seeking information about the dog's rabies vaccination status.
