UPDATE: 3 Cedar Rapids shootings believed to be related

Posted: Updated:

Cedar Rapids Police responded to three shootings last night that investigators believe are related.

The first shooting was at 7:11 p.m. in the 400 block of 16th Street SE where shots were fired at a house. Several shell casings were found, however, no injuries were reported.

The second shooting was at 8:59 p.m. next to Sam's Liquors at 15th Street and 1st Avenue East, where several juveniles were involved. A 16-year-old male sustained non-life threatening gunshot wounds to an upper extremity and was transported to a local hospital.

The third incident was at 10:17 p.m. in the 400 block of 16th Street SE, when multiple shots were fired at the same residence as earlier. There were no injures.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Witnesses say at least seven police officers were busy reviewing the area of the first shooting, and they saw authorities speeding away from the second scene around 10:15 p.m.

At last check, a witness says she saw two men shooting at something, and then they took off running.

She says it looked like they were in between a house and garage at the time of the shooting.

This marks the third Cedar Rapids weekend shooting in three weeks now.

Last weekend, three people were involved in a shooting incident, and two people ran to a nearby Wendy's for help.

The weekend before, a person was shot in a Walmart parking lot.

We have asked Cedar Rapids police whether these shootings are connected, and they say they cannot confirm that information at this time.

According to Cedar Rapids Police, they're investigating two shots fired complaints, and authorities confirm one person was taken to the hospital.

At this hour, authorities do not have suspect or victim information available.

The first shooting was reported at 7:10 p.m in the 400 block of 16th Street northeast.

The second shooting was reported at 8:59 p.m. near First Avenue and 15th Street East.

Authorities confirm these addresses are close to each other, but they could not confirm whether the shootings were related.
