Storm pick-up dates set in Asbury

Posted: Updated:

The City of Asbury has announced there will be two special storm pick-up dates in the coming weeks, after storms hit eastern Iowa this week.

City officials say residents who have items damaged by the storms can place those items on the curbside on both Saturday, July 15 and Saturday, July 22. The items must be on the curbside by 6 a.m.

Large items will need their own tags, according to city officials, which can be purchased for $15 at Asbury City Hall. Items needing a tag include: water heaters, refrigerators, freezers, stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, microwaves and gas grills (no propane tanks), lawnmowers, bicycles, weight benches and treadmills.

Restrictions include: carpet and lumber need to be cut into four foot sections and tied into manageable bundles, and, according to officials, "yard waste, batteries, tires, oil, paint cans (unless dried or filled with cat litter), televisions, computer monitors and laptops will not be accepted."
