UPDATE:  37-year-old Thomas Keith, of Evansdale, has now been arrested for threatening a Bremer County Sheriff's Deputy.  He faces charges of first degree harassment involving threats to commit a forcible felony.

Keith is being held on a $5,000 to $25,000 bond in the Bremer County Jail.

Evansdale and Waterloo Police worked alongside Black Hawk County Sheriff's deputies and tactical team during the standoff.

No shots were fired and no one got hurt; Sheriff Tony Thompson credits good communication and good teamwork.

"All these multi-agent jurisdictional efforts merged and went together so seamlessly. Everybody knew what everybody was going to do," he says.

A negotiator got on the phone with the man and within 30 minutes he surrendered.

"It moved very rapidly from scene security and establishing a better surveillance to we are going to resolve this thing right now," Sheriff Thompson says.

Evansdale Police Chief Jeff Jensen agrees, everyone worked well together.

"It all worked really well together because we all work as a team. Those guys (other agencies), I can't thank those guys enough for coming to our city to assist," he says.

The man is at a local hospital undergoing an evaluation.

Officers are surrounding a home where a man is inside with a gun.  The home is located at 1121 3rd Ave in Evansdale.

Police say the man threatened an officer with the weapon.  Some homeowners have been asked to leave their homes, while others were asked to stay.

No shots have been fired and nobody is hurt.  Waterloo and Evansdale Police are on scene, along with Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies.
