EAST DUBUQUE, Ill. (KWWL) -

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office says one person was hurt when a train hit a car parked at a railroad crossing in rural East Dubuque, Illinois on Sunday morning.

A release on the accident says officers were called to the spot of the crash along Barge Terminal Road south of U.S. Route 20 around 7:47 a.m. yesterday morning. Once at the scene, officers learned that the parked car was hit by a Canadian National Train.

Officers say 28-year-old Nathan Lee of Ridgeway and 29-year-old Kathryn Allen of Cresco were both inside the car prior to the collision, but had gotten out before the train hit the car. The report says Allen was taken to a nearby hospital for minor injuries, but has since been released. Lee is now facing charges for blocking the railroad crossing, while officers say they're still investigating the collision.

The East Dubuque Fire Department, East Dubuque Ambulance and East Dubuque Police Department assisted the Jo Daviess County Sheriff's Office at the scene.
