Officers in Marion looking for suspect accused of stealing motorcycle

Posted: Updated:
MARION (KWWL) -

Marion police say a man possibly stole a motorcycle, led officers on a chase, and then took off running into a cornfield in a chaotic series of events this weekend. They're still looking for the man behind the ordeal.

The action started Saturday night around 5:45, when officers were asked to look for a man in possession of a stolen motorcycle. One officer spotted the suspect and tried to pull him over on Highway 13 near Hennessey Parkway. That's when the suspect sped away from the officer, kicking off a chase. Marion Police and a Linn County Sheriff's Deputy tried to catch the man.

Officers were ending their chase when the suspect attempted to turn onto County Road D42 and lost control. He's then accused of running into a roadside cornfield.

Police say they're now looking for a white male, between 30-40 years old, with a medium build, shorter dark brown hair and a dark brown beard. He was apparently wearing a black sleeveless T-shirt during the chase, with gray stonewashed jeans and cowboy boots.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Marion Police Department or the Linn County Sheriff's Department.
