Nebraska senator loses bet, drives Uber

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A U.S. Nebraska senator is representing some Hawkeye pride this weekend after losing a bet.

He's also hitting the streets as an Uber driver. Senator Ben Sasse lost a bet after the University of Iowa football team beat the Nebraska Cornhuskers in November.

Independent Journal Review's Benny Johnson set the bet, Tweeting this at Sasse,"Loser has to drive in the opposing team's gear on the opposing campus."

Senator Sasse spent his night Ubering in Des Moines, Tweeting a few photos from Friday night, and he should be in Iowa City this weekend. Some Uber drivers in Iowa City are excited Senator Sasse is joining the team and of course excited he will be representing the Hawkeyes.

"He lost a bet because unfortunately Nebraska lost, fortunately for us he lost, but now I guess he is paying up and that is kind of cool of him to do," said Bruce Barett, Uber driver.

Barett says he hopes Sasse doesn't take any business away from him and the other Uber drivers, but he says he has a few tips for the senator when it comes to Hawkeye pride.

"Wear it strongly, make sure you yell out "Go Hawks" as much as you can," said Barett. "He's showing he is a good sport so hopefully he is a good sport the whole way."

As of now, we do not know where and when Senator Sasse will start Ubering in Iowa City, but last night Johnson sent a Tweet confirming when he started in Des Moines.
