Bob Bowling Golf for Hope to be held August 8 to raise money for ACS

Posted: Updated:

Get out the golf clubs for an important cause!  The Bob Bowling Golf For Hope event is being held on Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Beaver Hills Country Club, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society which, in turn, go to research, patient programs and education.

The event has derived from the former Pink Ribbon Golf Classic and Bob Bowling Memorial Golf Tournament.  Merging into one, the Bob Bowling Golf for Hope event will not only continue the tradition of supporting the fight against breast cancer, but will also support the fight against all cancer types and battles.

The Bob Bowling Golf for Hope will use a four-person best shot format, with a double shotgun start at 7:15 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. on August 8.  Lunch will be served from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m., with a program featuring guest speakers at 12:45 p.m.  The important day will end with a 19th hole celebration, with music by WAGG from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Guests will also enjoy activities, a silent auction, games and prizes.

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2017, there will be an estimated 1,688,780 new cancer cases diagnosed and 600,920 cancer deaths in the United States.  Their mission is: "The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer, through research, education, advocacy and service."
