WATERLOO (KWWL) -

With temperatures working their way into the 90s people in eastern Iowa are trying to beat the heat. The hot weather is making it a sticky day at work for construction workers in Waterloo.

"It sucks I am not gonna lie to you...it's hot," said Don Aldengelkens, DeWitt.

While putting in new sewer drains in downtown Waterloo, Aldengelkens and his coworkers were trying their best to stay cool and hydrated.

"It's a little challenging, but it's alright," said Tyler Vann, Quad Cities. "If it was about another five to ten degrees cooler it'd be real nice for us."

Aldengelkens and Vann say they are trying to stay positive when it comes to the heat.

"I am hoping it doesn't get worse than it's supposed to, but it's not that bad as long as you stay hydrated, you'll sweat but it's fine," said Aldengelkens.

Others in Waterloo were enjoying the heat, one woman says it was a perfect day to float in her pool.

"I have to say it's about as close to a perfect 10 as you can get," said Marylou Jung, Waterloo.

Overall staying hydrated and cool is important on days like today.

"When you're cool you don't really notice it so I am sure when I get out and I start doing any yard work it will hit me," said Jung.

Mercy and Sartori Hospitals have not reported any major heat related injuries. However, according to a official at Covenant Medical Center, they have treated some older Iowans for dizziness and dehydration.
