Five firework vendors fail compliance check by selling to minors

The Marion Police Department said of the seven firework vendors in town, five of them failed a compliance check and sold to minors.

Police conducted the check on Saturday, July 1, to see if the vendors were selling to people under the age 18.

The failing businesses were: TNT Fireworks at 5491 HWY 151, Boom Boom Billy's at 901 50th St., Jake's Fireworks at 3600 Hwy 151, JP Fireworks at 890 7th Ave., and Grace Baptist Church at 1461 E Post Rd.

All five of the vendors that sold to minors were cited and released for unlawful sale of fireworks, a simple misdemeanor that comes with a minimum $250 fine.

The two businesses that passed were Bellino Fireworks, 3300 10th Ave., and Cornellier Fireworks, located at 3375 Armar Drive.
