Tour de France: Peter Sagan wins Stage 3

The third of 21 stages of the Tour de France was today. Here are the highlights: 

1. It's 212.5 kilometers (132 miles) through the rolling hills from Verviers, Belgium to Longwy, France, finishing with a 1.6 kilometer (1 mile) long climb. 

2. Several riders saw their chances of winning the stage vanish when they went down in a crumpled pile of men and equipment. 

3. At the finish line, Peter Sagan battled with Michael Matthew and Daniel Martin. Sagan wins the stage in a time of 5 hours, 7 minutes, and 19 seconds. It's Sagan's eight career Tour de France stage win. 

After three stages it's Geraint Thomas of Great Britain wearing the overall leader's yellow jersey. 

Tomorrow's fourth stage will be 207.5 kilometers (129 miles) from Mondorf-les-Bains to Vittel.
