The Primetime Basketball League is thirty-one years strong...The brainchild of Iowa City attorney and businessman Randy Larson....

Former Iowa Hawkeye head coach Dr. Tom Davis and Larson started what is now the longest running summer basketball league in the country back in 1986.

For many years North Liberty was the primary site for the games---but the Cedar Valley SportsPlex in Waterloo was also added to accommodate the uni players.

Randy Larson says it is a testament to the coaches and student athletes for Primetime League's longevity.

Randy Larson PTL Founder, "I think our guys still work as hard as they always did---I've got a lot of faith in the guys that Ben Jacobson and Fran McCaffery still recruit.. But there have been a lot of summer leagues over the country...they're falling apart because the guys don't have the work ethic--they don't show up they don't play the right way nobody wants to come and see a terrible sloppy game..so I give credit to those coaches and previous coaches in their positions whether it is McDermott, Lickliter or Alford or coach Davis they have been mostly recruiting the right kind of guys."
