Family business hit hard for second time by storms

Posted: Updated:

It's been a day of cleanup for Nagle Grain in Prairieburg after a tornado tore through the town Wednesday night.

Much of the company that buys and sells grain was left in shambles.

"You come in here and see something that you have helped build and worked for for 25 years, you know you think  you are gonna retire here and you have plenty to come back to, it's very hard," says Darren Paustian, Operations Manager at Nagle Grain.

This is the second time weather has left the family business with a mess.

The first happened 11-years-ago when a storm took out several grain bins.

Wednesday several more were destroyed, one was even found a couple of blocks away.

"How it landed two blocks up, and didn't hit any other structures just landed right in the street between two buildings," says Paustian.

Some of the company semi trailers also took a beating as they were thrown into nearby fields.

Nagle Grain is now working to overcome once more.
"Wife's grandfather started this and you know I couldn't even tell you how many years ago. I know my father-in-law took over in 1980 and then 3 years ago he turned it over to me and my wife," says  Paustian.

In the meantime the company is able to function, several drivers keep their trucks at home so they were not damaged when the tornado swept  through.

Six of them are actually on the road today delivering feed.
