Police: No credible info about human trafficking rumor

Posted: Updated:
DUBUQUE (KWWL) -
Dubuque Police are saying there is no credible information to support a rumor about human trafficking in the area. This comes after posts are circulating online about men approaching people in town, and at Kennedy Mall, for sex trafficking and kidnapping. Police have been looking into it, but they say their is no credible threat.
Police also say they've been working with the Kennedy Mall security team, who also say they have no information to support the rumors.
Police do say they met with the parent of an 8-year-old who was approached by a woman in the mall who offered to buy the child something from the store; however, they don't think this interaction had anything to do with human trafficking.
