IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Police say a registered sexual offender violated his parole by living in a home that had a daycare being run out of it.

According to online documents, David Edward Short was arrested Monday after an HRU (High-risk unit) officer paid a home visit to him at the home he was living in Iowa City on 3022 E. Court St.

During the visit, the officer observed that there were various kid toys around the home. In the report it said a parole officer had been tipped off the previous week that a daycare was being run out of the same home that Short was living in.

Short is not to have contact with anyone under the age of 18 without prior approval and was told that he could not live in a home where there was an operational daycare, the report said.

Court records show that Short was arrested in 2007 for third degree sexual abuse.
