Iowa radio station celebrates 50 years

Posted: Updated:

A big milestone in one eastern Iowa town.

A radio station celebrates 50 years on-the-air.

KNEI, or 103.5, has officially been on- air since June 27th, 1967.

The station's location in Waukon, and yesterday they held an open house in honor of their 50 years.

Longtime radio personalities that were there since the very beginning showed up.

Former Disc Jockey Jim Juve played the very first record on-air.

He says he played Honkey Tonk Angels.

KWWL asked the station why they think it's been around for so long.

They say radio is really a positive mood-booster, and it's something that you can have with you wherever you go.

KNEI says things have changed over the years, especially the technology. In the past, they used to only be on-air from sunrise to sunset.
