UPDATE: Explosion, fire damages Cedar Rapids home

UPDATE: A home is damaged after an explosion.  It happened in the 7000 block of Doubletree Rd. NE in Cedar Rapids. 

Crews say the explosion led to a fire, spreading to the back of the home and possible the house next door.  They were able to put out the fire quickly and save a cat inside.  

Nobody was hurt, but the homeowners, Angie and Joe Kramer, are not able to stay there at this time.  The cause of the explosion is under investigation.


Neighbors tell KWWL they heard a loud boom and saw a "giant flame" shoot up. The Cedar Rapids Fire Marshal is at the scene, but has not released any information on the situation at this time.
