Police investigate armed robbery

Police are investigating an armed robbery in eastern Iowa.

Iowa City Police were called to the 1100 block of 3rd Avenue for a report of an armed robbery around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 24th.

A man says he was meeting up with a woman he had met through an online website. When he arrived at the arranged meeting place, two men approached him. One had a large knife and the other was carrying a board.

The victim says he was drug inside a home where he was hit in the head with the board about three times before being robbed of his cash and cell phone. He has minor injuries and is expected to be okay.

The victim described the suspect with the knife as a black man wearing a mask and loose clothing and the other was a black man wearing a baseball cap.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspects.  Anyone with information about this crime is urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 358-TIPS (8477).
