LA PORTE CITY (KWWL) -

UPDATE: A 4-year-old boy is out of the hospital after he nearly drown in La Porte City Pool.

Police were called to the pool on Oak Street Friday for a drowning. When they arrived they found 4-year-old Jace Keegan who was awake and breathing thanks to a pair of life guards.

Megan Hudson and Richie Artega were able to pull the young boy out of the pool and performed CPR on him, shortly after he started coughing and regained consciousness.

Jace's mother says a woman at the pool initially found her son face down in the pool, she immediately told the life guards.

Jace was taken to Allen Hospital and later University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital to be checked, he is now home with his family.

This evening Jace will have a chance to see the two lifeguards again since the accident, watch that story tonight at 10.
