CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Fireworks have caused three fires in the last 50 days in Cedar Rapids.

The most recent fire happened last night in the 3400 block of Dalewood Avenue, forcing a family of four from their home after extensive damage.

Firefighters say it started in the garage, then spread to the attic and second floor of the house. Four people, including two children, were home at the time, but nobody was hurt.

Neighbors says they often hear fireworks in the area.

"I heard a boom and then another boom, but that wasn't unusual because for the last week we've had fireworks like that going off," said Bev Heath, Cedar Rapids.

Officials say, fireworks also contributed to another house fire near McKinley Middle School earlier this month, which also started in the garage.
