LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Linn County Sheriff's Deputy was attempting a traffic stop of a 2003 Oldsmobile Alero early Wednesday morning when the vehicle refused to pull over. A license plate check alerted the deputy that the car had been stolen from Wisconsin.

Instead of pulling over for the officer, the driver, Diante Dickens, 23, of Cedar Rapids, accelerated traveling north on East Post Rd into Marion City limits. A short pursuit continued through Marion before Dickens stopped the vehicle, attempting to flee on foot along with the passenger of the car before both were apprehended.

Dickens faces several charges; driving while license is suspended, interference with official acts, second degree theft, attempting to elude, and speeding.

The passenger was Ashley Pledge, 29, of Marion. Pledge was charged with interfering with official acts.
