Hitting the slopes in Dubuque

Posted: Updated:

Some fun in the sun, along with skiing and snowboarding at Sundown Mountain Ski Resort in Dubuque.

"I'm having a lot of fun...enjoying it a lot. The weather I'd say is almost perfect. It's a little windy, but not too cold at all," said Mitchell Lilile of Alburnett.

Family members, young and old coming together the day after Christmas taking on the slopes. "It's nice with the variety of slopes so we can all participate and get together and do things together, " said Jeff Lisky of the Quad Cities area.

Some of them are getting lessons. "(I) enjoy doing this sport, it's fun. Letting the families different groups learn how to ski, the little ones especially they're fun," said Dave Winders, ski instructor.

One of those little ones, 5-year-old Sam. "I did a great job going off the ski lift three times."

Others are just sitting back enjoying the view. "It's been great to see the kids back out. The families enjoying themselves after Christmas and getting outside and getting some fresh air," said Mark Gordon, general manager of the resort.

Management says they've had a strong season, so far.

The resort will be open New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.
