Waverly decides against buying more land for baseball fields, county fairgrounds

WAVERLY (KWWL) -

Flooding, not enough space -- these problems led to plans for new fairgrounds and baseball diamonds in Bremer County.

After a decision at this week's Waverly City Council meeting, those plans may be changing.

The council discussed buying more land for the project, but the proposal did not receive enough votes to pass.

Organizers say the Bremer County Fair continues to grow each year. They're running out of space and parking is a concern. Years ago, they made a plan  with Waverly to buy new space for the fairgrounds near Highway 3.

Waverly city council members say there isn't enough money for this project and they're concerned because development of the new land hasn't happened yet.
