Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office asking drivers to avoid travel

JO DAVIESS COUNTY, Ill. (KWWL) -

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Office in the Tri-State area is asking drivers to be aware of potentially dangerous driving conditions.

The sheriff's office posted on Facebook, a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 9 p.m. Saturday through noon Sunday. Due to the blowing and drifting snow, and sub-zero temperatures, crews will have a difficult time keeping up with ice on the roads and drifting snow.

The sheriff’s office says they will only respond to emergency calls. All non-emergency calls will be followed up on after the storm. Authorities say do not travel unless absolutely necessary.

If you do travel, any assistance by responding agencies may be severely delayed.
