Woman arrested after police chase, crash

One woman is arrest after allegedly leading police on a car chase before crashing into another vehicle. 

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday night,  a Linn County Sheriff’s Deputy attempted to stop a blue Toyota Camry for speeding on Highway 151 in Walford.  The vehicle failed to stop and led the deputy on a chase south on Highway 151.  The vehicle continued south into Benton County and then into Iowa County.  Speeds reached about 70 MPH.  

The chase came to an end when the Toyota struck the rear of a Red Chevy Truck on Highway 151 at County Road F-12. 

The driver of the Toyota, 55-year-old Sandra Fisher of Marengo, was taken into custody and was uninjured.  The Red Chevy Truck was driven by 19-year-old Andrew Schachtle and the passenger was 19-year-old Holly Kirby, both of Marengo.  Schachtle was uninjured.  Kirby was taken to Marengo Memorial Hospital by Iowa County EMS with non-life threatening injuries. 

Agencies assisting with the pursuit and the accident are the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa County Sheriff’s Office, Benton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. 

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. 

 Fisher was charged by the Linn County Sheriff’s Office for Attempting to Elude, OWI, and other traffic violations and she was taken to the Linn County Jail.
