New Cedar Falls Fire Chief announced

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

The City of Cedar Falls announcing after a four month search, the selection of a new Cedar Fall Fire Chief.

The city will be promoting the current interim chief John Bostwick to the position.

Bostwick has been a battalion chief for nearly two decades with the department and has served on the Cedar Falls Fire Department for 36 years.

He is originally from Fullerton, California and is also a certified reserve police officer.

Cedar Fall's Public Safety Services Director Jeff Olson tells KWWL Bostwick has been a very active member of the fire department helping with fire and public safety training and implementing various programs.

Olson released this statement, “John Bostwick has been an excellent employee and has demonstrated a strong commitment to the City Council goals. There were several great candidates for Fire Chief, however Bostwick did exceptionally well during this process and received significant support from many during the selection process."

The four month selection process saw 25 applicants from 10 states and included four applicants from the Cedar Falls Fire Department.

Bostwick was one of two candidates to make the final round of interviews which took place earlier this week.

Bostwick will official take over duties as chief on Tuesday, December 20th.
