Cedar Rapids plows clearing roads for morning commute

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Twenty Cedar Rapids plows are working to clear the roads going into the Monday morning commute.

Cedar Rapids Street Superintendent Mike Duffy says plows have been taking advantage of the warmer temperatures, it was in the thirties today.

Main roads like 1st Avenue are mostly wet tonight and traffic is moving along smoothly.

Duffy says he doesn't expect any major problems for the Monday morning commute.

Plows are working their way into residential areas but will not get to all of them by morning.

The plows are working around the clock.

Duffy says drivers should take their regular winter driving precautions like leaving plenty of room between themselves and other cars.

The Cedar Rapids Police Department tells us there have only been a couple of minor snow related accidents today.
