Grinch accused of stealing Christmas lights in Waterloo

Posted: Updated:

A Grinch is accused of stealing Christmas lights from a Waterloo home and it's all caught on camera.

A video was posted by one of our viewers to our KWWL Facebook page.

The man who posted it says the crook unplugged two projector lights, grabbed them and ran to a get-away car down the street. This happened on Barton Avenue in Waterloo early Sunday morning.

The homeowner, Larry Klodt is very upset and even offering a $100 reward for information leading to an arrest. Several other homeowners in Waterloo have also reported stolen lights and decorations.

The projector lights go for about 30 dollars each, but Larry says it's not about the money.

Klodt says, "It's the principle of the matter; it's senseless. I know there were some elderly people that were looking forward to their grandchildren seeing the lights and I've seen some people who say they aren't putting stuff up anymore because of's too bad."

The thieves got away in a light--colored Pontiac Grand Prix type of vehicle. If you have any information please call Waterloo Police.
