Hawkeye wrestlers top Iowa State for 13th straight time

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

Iowa picked up bonus points in three matches as the third ranked Hawkeyes topped rival Iowa State 26-9. The victory marked the 13th straight in the series for the Hawks.

Thomas Gilman (125) and Sammy Brooks (184) dominated picking up technical falls in their matches. Brandon Sorenson won by major decision at 149 pounds.

The Hawkeyes (5-0, 1-0) won seven-of-10 bouts overall and held a 19-10 advantage in takedowns.

    The seventh ranked Iowa wrestlers didn't take a single loss on the mat. Iowa took down Iowa State 35-6 with the only loss being a result of a forfeit at 197 pounds. Spencer Lee (125) and Alex Marinelli (165) registered Iowa's two pins in the match, both came in less than a minutes.
