Stroke victim gives back to those who helped her recover

A special project all started with one eastern Iowa woman who had a stroke.

Lisa Olson is giving back after she spent several years recovering at North Star Community Service's Head Injury Center.

She had a stroke 12 years ago.

The stroke took away her ability to use her right arm, and she spent a long time recovering.

Lisa says the other head injury patients at North Star became her good friends and inspired her.

She wanted to give back to them, so Lisa and her sister asked a group they are in, called the Knot So Perfect Piecers, to help help make quilt bags for the patients.

The quilt bags had everything from toothpaste, to notebooks, to Kleenex, to even funny glasses in them.

Those glasses were a big hit.

Not all of the patients at the center had strokes like Lisa. Some were in car accidents.
