CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The skyline of eastern Iowa's largest city may be changing.

Today the Cedar Rapids City Council will begin negotiations on the One Park Place project. Earlier this year the city had a third-party group due a study to make sure the project would work financially.

“We are pleased to hear the outcome of the NDC’s thorough review that One Park Place remains financially viable,” said City Manager Jeff Pomeranz.  “Continued diligence is needed to successfully bring this project – and its many components – to fruition, but we are excited to work with Jesse and his team to begin the next phase of this project by negotiating a development agreement.”

The 28-story high rise would become the tallest building in the city. Plans include a grocery store, rooftop restaurant, hotel and housing units.
