Remembering Elizabeth and Lyric 4 years later

Posted: Updated:

Four years later and still looking for answers.

On this day, four years ago, the bodies of murdered Evansdale cousins Lyric Cook and Elizabeth Collins were found at the Seven Bridges Wildlife Park in Bremer County. The discoveries came five months after the girls were first reported missing near Meyers Lake in Evansdale.

Despite countless leads, no arrests have been made yet in the girls' murders.

Today, freshly fallen snow sits on Angels Park, lighting up the memorial for Lyric and Elizabeth. It's often a place where Heather and Drew Collins sit, thinking about their daughter, but today is a painful day.

Elizabeth's father Drew Collins says, "Days like today are hard, but I still have three other kids that need me...I have to be strong for them."

Four years waiting for answers, four years waiting for justice.

"Every day I wake up hoping today is the day that the police will call saying they caught someone," he says.

There are no new updates in the investigation, but Evansdale Police are heavily invested in this case.

"This is personal to them. They want this solved just as bad as we do and they told us they will be working it until it's solved, which means a lot," he says.

After four painful years, Drew Collins is encouraging anyone with information to please come forward.

He says, "If you are protecting someone, they are not worth protecting....they are evil people, whoever did this."

There is a substantial reward money being offered for anyone with information that leads to an arrest. Please share what you know with the Evansdale Police Department or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers..
