CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Utility work in the Czech Village to accommodate the future Flood Control System levee will begin the week of December 12 after being delayed by a week.

The work will entail relocating water, the sanitary sewer, and utilities in the storm sewer for as long as the weather allows, until picking up the project in the spring.

This will be done west of A Street SW, between C Street and A Street SW.

Cedar Rapids City Council adopted the Cedar River Flood Control System Master Plan on June 23, 2015, a long-term plan of flood prevention.

It is expected to cost $700 million over a 20 year span.
