BUCHANAN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A trooper with the Iowa State Patrol was injured in a crash Sunday morning. It happened in Buchanan County on I-380 near mile marker 55 during winter driving conditions.

The Iowa State Patrol says the trooper was on the inside shoulder assisting a driver who went into the median. 22-year-old Brittany Anderson, of Charles City, was heading southbound when she lost control and hit the rear of the trooper's vehicle. The Iowa State Patrol says Anderson's vehicle entered the median and crossed both lanes of traffic before coming to a rest in a ditch.

The 45-year-old trooper was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids by private vehicle. The trooper's name has not been released.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
