DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

The first snowfall of the season is something people in Dubuque are trying to get used to.

"I think it came pretty early," said Greg Nadermann. He admits not being ready for it.

In fact, the snow started later than last year.

People have been clearing their sidewalks, some using shovels while others using snow blowers. Drivers are also cleaning off their cars, while some are just letting the snow accumulate.

On the roads, the Public Works Department taking care of primary and secondary streets.

However, the slick roads and slushy snow making it a challenge to drive. As of Sunday afternoon, Dubuque police say there's been nearly nine car crashes. Those crashes were minor, with drivers sliding into ditches and bumping into other cars. No injuries reported.

Another challenge in Dubuque are the hills as drivers try to maneuver them, but as the day goes on plow trucks are working on making progress in residential areas.
