Ford recalling 680,000 cars

Posted: Updated:

Two injuries have prompted Ford to recall about 680,000 vehicles to fix a seat belt issue.

The automaker says it'll recall certain versions of the 2013 through 2016 model year Ford Fusion and the 2013 through 2015 model year Lincoln MKZ

The problem stems from faulty seat belt anchor pretensioners which can overheat and cause the cable to snap during deployment in a crash and not adequately restrain an occupant.

Ford says it's linked two injuries and two accidents to the problem.

A small number of  Ford Mondeo Sedans are also being recalled due to the problem, but none of them are in North America.
