Iowa artist designs unique Cedar Valley coasters reminding us of home

Posted: Updated:

Coasters of home.

You might notice something new at businesses in the Cedar Valley this holiday season.

The Greater Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber teamed up with a Cedar Falls artist.

Together, they're making and handing out coasters to businesses throughout the Cedar Valley.

The coasters are unique.

They're designed to remind people home for the holidays that they can be successful and happy here in the Cedar Valley. They don't have to move somewhere.

The goal is for people to see the coasters while in town and start a conversation.

Danny Laudick with the Cedar Valley Alliance & Chamber came up with the idea. He asked artist Scotty Russell to design the coasters.

They just started distributing them around. There will be three different designs handed out through New Years.

The first coaster has the saying "be who you want to be" on it. These coasters were all handed out to businesses for free.

This is part of the chamber's Live the Valley initiative -- which promotes job opportunities and the quality of life in the cedar valley.
