21-year-old Martrell Watson died early Saturday morning after crashing into a police SUV on I-380 in Cedar Rapids.

22-year-old Kaitlyn Hall was in the car with Watson and was also killed.

Loved ones of Martrell are mourning the loss.

"Lived with us for awhile and then him and my daughter had a baby so they have a five year old together," says Heidi Taylor.

At this moment the family says little Marianah does not know her father is gone.

"She loves him a lot you know they're young but he was a good dad to her he went to you know all of her preschool stuff and picked her up from daycare," Taylor tells us.

Marianah's mother Mariya says Martrell loved her, his family and his friends.

"He had three best friends, Keenan, Demontrae and Shaq who have been here for him through everything, they've been here for me now," she told us.

"I don't know what the investigations outcome is going to be of the accident but for the sake of his five-year-old I would like everybody to remember what kind of father he was to his daughter," Taylor says.

Martrell had made a promise to Marianah for Christmas those close to him are hoping to fulfill.

"He promised Marianah a princess carriage car from Walmart, that big hot item you know what I mean. He told her that that would be the only present she was going to get and she reminds me of that often that her dads getting her that car so that is our number one goal to make sure she has that on Christmas," says Taylor.

The plan is to sign the present "love dad."

Friends and family are welcome to go to a candlelight vigil for Martrell on Thursday night at seven.

The vigil will be held at 1119 3rd Street SW in Cedar Rapids.
