CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Cedar Rapids police have released the names of two people killed in a crash on Interstate 380. The accident happened Saturday morning at 2:48.

Police were at the scene of an accident on I-380 at 1st Avenue West when a car driven by Martrell Watson hit a police explorer on the passenger side and rear side. That police vehicle was helping provide traffic control from the original accident.

Kaitlyn Hall-Stougard was also in the vehicle with Watson. They were both pronounced dead at the scene. The two officer were sent to the hospital and released over the weekend.

Police say initial investigation shows Watson was traveling southbound on I-380 when he lost control and began sliding sideways. He then crossed three lanes of traffic and hit the police vehicle.

Kaitlyn Hall-Stougard and Watson were both from Cedar Rapids. Hall-Stougard was 22 years old. Watson was 21 years old.
