Hawkeye wrestlers roll Purdue in Big Ten opener

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (KWWL) -

The Iowa Hawkeye wrestling team opened Big Ten action with a dominant 34-3 win over Purdue. Iowa won 9 of 10 bouts to win their 19th straight conference opener.

The Hawkeyes scored bonus points in five of their nine wins. Iowa's Topher Carlson (141), Brandon Sorenson (149), and Sammy Brooks (184) won by major decision. Thomas Gilman (125) and Alex Meyer (174) won by technical fall.
