UPDATE: Owner speaks out after fire burns business

UPDATE: The Owner of Iowa Gold Distributing speaks out today after his business caught fire Thursday morning.

Despite the rubble from the fire, Bob Walters says that he is thankful the building is still standing.

"We are thankful nobody got hurt, we are thankful it wasn't really windy that day, and that they saved the main building."

Although storage space in the building has burned down, Walters says the business will still function.

Flames and smoke are still visible today. The Central City Fire Chief says that they were able to maintain control of the blaze by keeping water on the main portion of the building, to keep the flames from spreading.

UPDATE: The firefighter that was rushed to the hospital after the Central City fire today is home.


UPDATE: Firefighters say people nearby Central City can resume as normal after the massive fire.

They're working to clear debris now.


UPDATE: Officials are saying one firefighter is in St. Lukes Hospital for a possible life-threatening medical issue.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.


UPDATE: The Fire Chief in Central City is telling people who live in town to stay indoors, shut their windows and shut off their furnaces.

Crews are still working to put out a huge fire at Iowa Gold Distributing, and the fire is sending thick, black smoke into the air.

People in the area are supplying food and drinks for the fire fighters.


Firefighters are battling a big fire at Iowa Gold Distributing in Central City this morning.

KWWL has a crew at the scene now and says you could see the smoke from 8 miles away.

Roads are blocked and many different departments are there battling the fire.

Firefighters are trying to keep people away right now because they are concerned the fire could spread.

One firefighter says he doesn't think this fire will be out anytime soon, the building is full of oil bits.
